DMH Spotlight - Digital Artist Rudy N. Vogel interprets photographs by DMH Back

Rudy Vogel and Diana Henry's gallery is now online at http://www.wix.com/rudynvogel/RNV-DMH

"It was an exciting opportunity for me to interpret a photo of Andy Warhol, one of my favorite avant-garde artists, taken by Diana Mara Henry at one of his 'famous' parties. The aura of the moment is drenched with excitement and festivity almost as if Mardi Gras were held in New York City. This pulse and the history behind Warhol set the tone for my translation. I wanted to capture the outlandishness and offsetting colors, Warhol’s hallmark, in the minutia of the scene, as if Warhol himself had left his thumbprint on my canvas. The kaleidoscopic effect mirrors the surreal atmosphere of his social gatherings and lifestyle and, most assuredly, is symbolic of the dizzying life he lived."

Andy Warhol was an ubiquitous presence at the parties that Diana Mara Henry attended and photographed during the 1970’s and 1980’s in NYC. He floated ghostly through the excitement, never seeming to participate except as an observer. Her photograph made of him at the A La Vieille Russie party for Diane Von Furstenberg shows his typical mode of interacting with the scene he did so much to stimulate in a mysterious way. Diana Mara Henry is excited and intrigued by her collaboration with Rudy Vogel and his interpretations of her images.
